We had a tour of Athens visiting the Acropolis, the Pathenon, an original Amphitheatre and an Olympic venue. Spent some time shopping and having a coffee before boarding the bus to head back to the ship.

We had a full day yesterday touring the Dolomites. It was zero degrees in some of the spots we stopped at for photos, yet it didn't feel all that cold. The scenery is amazing and beautiful. The towns are very much like our mental picture of Austria, and given we were less than 30 kilometres from Austria that makes perfect sense.
Off to breakfast now, and then check out and move to the ship. Not sure what will happen in respect to Israel given the fires - it is a wet away so anything could happen.

Yesterday (Wednesday) we did a lot of walking visiting St Marks Square and the surrounding area. St Marks Cathedral is an amazing building of sheer opulence of the era. The treasury holds many of the 'spoils of wars' with items dating back to the year 400. We had an hour long 'taxi' tour around the various canals and saw a variety of areas that make up Venice.
Today, Thursday we went to Murano to the glassworks, and saw a lot of amazing items that are made in there. There are a number of glass manufacturers in Murano, but only the one we went to produces amazing hand made.
We then got a boat to Murano which is a beautiful and colourful area. Homes are painted in bright colours and the overall look is spectacular.
Tomorrow it's the Dolomites. Rain is predicted, but that ought not create any problems for us.
More later…..

Left Melbourne on time at 11.10pm. Somehow we survived a 14+ hour flight to Doha. Once in Doha we had 1 1/2 hours between landing and take off and that pretty much took the hour and a half. We bought take away coffee and had to drink it on the aircraft - we didn't have time for a leisurely sit down.
Flight to Venice was another 6 1/2 hours, but we managed to suck it up. Arrived in Venice - water taxi from Airport to hotel and here we are. Hotel is fantastic - Faye found it o the internet and came up with an absolute winner. We've been up just over 30 hours and are we're starting to feel it. We need to stay up for another 7 hours, so we go to bed at normal time.
That's it for now.
